British Fencing Centre Durham
August 2007 – Centre Newsletter
Dear Fencers and Parents
We hope you have all had an enjoyable Summer, despite the rain!
Please find below information regarding the forthcoming Fencing season. This includes term dates and also a list of particular events between in which Musketeer, Cadet and Junior Fencers might have an interest. About the British Fencing Centre Durham
The BFCD is now in its 13th year and is run as a Fencing Training Centre (not an affiliated Fencing Club) for any Fencer in the Region. The BFCD operates in close partnership with the University of Durham who provide the facilities including the dedicated fencing area at the Graham Sports Centre, Maiden Castle Durham. We are all delighted that Fencing has been adopted as a priority sport at the University and there are plans for a multi-million pound development in which Fencing has been included with a new dedicated Fencing Salle. Date of completion is currently forecast for 2009. Members of DUFC can join the BFCD and add greatly to the depth of training available.
The Centre provides a "sporting pathway" from Beginner to elite level. Last year’s membership of the BFCD was 80+ paid up members. We look forward to a successful season’s activities and the introduction of many new people, of all ages to our sport!
