Regional
Fencing Centre Durham is not a fencing club but is open to
all fencers who want to further training in addition to any
training they may get from fencing at the club they represent
competitively.
From
November 2011, fencers will be training in brand-new, World-class,
dedicated 8 piste fencing salle, provided by our host and
partner organisation, Durham University. Air conditioned and
fully sprung floor, the salle has 4 metal pistes and 4 training
pistes and is the largest facility dedicated to fencing in
the UK.

Season Dates:
The season will run for 36 weeks in total. The dates are as
follows:
Autumn Term: Monday 12th September, 2011
to Saturday 10th December 2011 (13 weeks)
Spring Term: Monday 16th January, 2012 to
Saturday 7th April 2012 (12 weeks)
Summer Term: Monday 30th April 2012 to Saturday
14th July 2012 (11 weeks)

Fees
are not refundable, however in case of serious injury
or illness, a proportion of the fees may be carried forward
to the following year, at the discretion of the Management
Committee.
N.B. Fencing Families: There will be
a 5% discount for 2nd member and 10% for 3rd and subsequent
family members in the same household.
Active participation and volunteering.
Alongside our Fencing training we will seek to provide
a number of (free) sessions on topics of interest to fencers
and parents of junior fencers: we will seek your views
on what sessions would be most useful but topics that
have been suggested already include:
• Junior Competitions – what to expect and
how to support
• Progression to Cadets (and beyond)
• Introduction to the Regional Academy programme
(of British Fencing)
• Nutrition
• Sports psychology and mental preparation/Meditation
• Strength and Conditioning
